Yesterday saw us conclude our final sale of our financial year. We have supplied this 61 Seat Euro 6 Neoplan P22 Tourliner to Majestic Travel Ltd of Wolverhampton. Having taken the reins from his parents Richard Lavender has restructured the business and finds high capacity executive coaches ideal for the football specials he operates to away matches for number of clubs in the West Midlands. Obviously in the current situation it won’t be going straight to work but it’s refreshing that during this period of uncertainty one operator is looking forward and planning for the future beyond COVID-19. We have recently supplied this 2010 Mercedes Benz Tourismo 49 Seat Executive Coach to Stewart Howe of Erith, Kent. Stewart has been around in the industry as a driver for a number of years but has recently decided to take the plunge and try his hand at operating, in fact is business is so new he hasn’t even decided on a trading name! Stewart will be operating from just around the corner from Redwing’s premises in Kent where this coach started life. The Tourismo is fitted with all the usual refinements including 49 luxline seats. It is fitted with a ZF Automatic Gearbox and alloy wheels add a finishing touch. We have recently supplied Taylor’s Travel of Margate, Kent with a pair of Euro 6 compliant coaches. The first coach they sourced from us was this 34 seat Yutong TC9 Executive Coach which will replace an older Mercedes Tourino. Dan & Annette from Taylor’s approached me as the high spec of this vehicle was exactly what they were looking for. The little coach is powered by a Euro 6 Cummins engine driven through a ZF Ecolife fully automatic gearbox. It is trimmed in Black Leather and fitted with 3 Point Seat Belts, Rear Floor Mounted WC, Hot Drinks Facility, Fridge, Air Conditioning and has USBs at every seat. The second vehicle purchased is a 2 year old Neoplan P20 Tourliner 2. Following a recommendation by our friend Tom Haugh at HM Travel we were contacted by Castleroy Coaches from Limerick in Ireland. They were looking for an older vehicle for contracts and something mid range and clean. we managed to source them a 2001 B10M Berkhof Axial from Coastal & Country Coaches in Whitby, and a 2006 SB4000 Van Hool T9 from Tyrer’s in Chorley. Both these vehicles were presented in tip top condition by their previous owners and were collected earlier this week. Seen here at Tyrers premises with both vehicles are Eddie Barrie and Kieran Curtin of Castleroy Coaches. They are now safely back in Ireland and we wish them the very best of luck with their new purchases.
A slightly out of the ordinary sale is this Mercedes Sprinter Ferqui Sorocco 16 seat minicoach from the JH Coaches fleet in Tyne & Wear. The purchaser is Kevin Duff from North Manchester who has quite an extended family. When they go on a family day out they usually use 3 cars which isn’t ideal. The solution? This Sprinter. It fits on Kevin’s drive, is easy to manoeuvre, and economical. The little coach features air conditioning, 16 fainsa reclining seats with 3 point seat belts, and a huge luggage capacity. Our old friend Mitul Kerai from MIT Luxury Travel based in Middlesex has returned for his second Tourliner in two years. You may recall that in October 2018 he purchased a 2015 61 Seat P22 through us from Weardale Motor Services in Co. Durham. Since then his small business has been slowly growing and as Mitul wants to Future proof his business he was looking for a Euro 6 vehicle that was PSVAR compliant. Being based close to Heathrow and with the recent legislation regarding PSVAR compliance both were imperative. Having recently been discussing potential vehicles to dispose of with our friends at Go Goodwins we sourced him “The Manchester Bee”, a PSVAR compliant Euro 6 compliant 61 Seat Tourliner 2. Some of you may recognise the chap in this photo. No, not our Darren but James Mills. James was one of two brothers who inherited the Yorkshire Rose business following the sudden passing of their father a few years ago. However, James took the decision to leave the business in the capable hands of his brother David and left the industry. As we all know the coach industry has a way of dragging you back eventually and James is no exception. He has recently gained his own operators licence and has commenced operation in Barnsley as Red Mills Coaches. During his search for a good reasonably priced reliable coach he stumbled across this former Shearings Volvo B10M Van Hool T9 Alizee which was perfect for getting him up and running. We were recently contacted by Richard Bibby of Abacus Travel Services of Urmston, Greater Manchester who had a requirement for a nice. clean, tidy 16 seater. We managed to source one right on his doorstep in Chadderton. Jim McDowell who had run Tewmax Mini Travel had decided to retire. He only had one vehicle, this 2008 Sprinter 16 seater which he’d had from new. Being an owner driver he had kept the little coach in tip top condition, and it has only recently had a new engine fitted. It was perfect for Abacus so a deal was quickly struck and the vehicle collected and taken off to it’s new home across Manchester where it will spend most of it’s life servicing a number of hotels around Manchester Airport. We are pleased to have helped Clair’s Coaches of Tibshelf, Derbyshire to update her fleet. Clair currently operates 3 Volvo B10Ms and has taken the plunge and updated the fleet with this 49 Seat Volvo B12B 9700 Prestige Plus supplied by Red Rose Coaches of Blackburn, Lancashire. Clair runs a small tour and day excursion brochure and the coaches maiden voyage will be a Christmas tour to St. Annes on Sea this Monday. The new member of the fleet features theatre style tiered seating, air conditioning, a centre sunken WC, and is powered by Volvo’s 12 litre 420 bhp engine, driven through Volvo’s 12 speed automated I-Shift gearbox. This week we helped update the fleet of one of the oldest established names in the business. Ellen Smith (Tours) Ltd of Rochdale, Greater Manchester can trace their roots back over 100 years and were at the forefront of coach holidays from the North West of England during the Golden Age of Coaching, and is one of only a handful of names left from that iconic period. Today the run on a much smaller scale with only two coaches of their own and the remainder of their work sub-contracted, predominantly to our friends Grayway in Wigan. Their latest purchase is this 2011 DAF powered Van Hool T916 Astronef 53 Seat Executive Coach. The predominant feature of the Astronef being it’s sloping window line with theatre style tiered seating.
