Red & White Setra Heads for Traditional Red & White Territory

One of our recent sales is this immaculate Setra S416 GT-HD to Acorn Travel in the Welsh Valleys near Merthyr Tydfil. Most of you will know this coach as Kevin Jackson’s Coach but our good friends at Blackpool Coach Services have repainted it into this fetching Red & White colour scheme, quite appropriate for those of you old enough to remember the old Red & White Bus Co from pre National Bus Company days will remember this was their operating area. Dave Morgan of Acorn Travel has taken this coach as his new front line vehicle and hopes it’s comfortable high specification and eye catching livery will help bring in new business and keep regular customers happy.

This Afternoon we handed over 4 Dennis Tridents from the Tyrer’s fleet to Boomerang Bus Ltd T/A Pilkington Bus of Accrington. These 4 Plaxton President bodied buses are only heading a short distance from South to East Lancashire and are replacing older Volvo Olympians. Over the remainder of the summer break Pilkington’s plan to upseat them for use on their commercially operated school services. Pictured collecting the buses from Darren at Tyrer’s Chorley base is Alan Pilkington, Director of Boomerang Bus Ltd

Earlier today we handed over the first of the Tyrer’s Dennis Tridents we have for sale. This 2000 example headed south to it’s new home in The Forest of Dean with Grindle’s Coaches where it will settle in to an easy life on a regular school contract. Pictured collecting the bus from Darren is Philip Grindle, Director of Grindle’s Coaches.

Today we sold this Scania N113 Double Deck Bus to Kettlewells of Retford where it will join it’s younger sister, a V registered example of the same design. Kettlewell’s run a mainly Scania fleet and our East Lancs Cityzen Double Decker will fit right in. Following a little bit of TLC over the next few weeks she will enter service in the new Academic Year. Pictured collecting the vehicle from Darren is Darren Ieronimo of Kettlewells prior to a steady run back over The Pennines and down the A1.

This week saw the departure of our old girl. This immaculate 1980 Volvo B58 Plaxton Supreme IV Coach. It is off to start a new life in The Welsh Valleys near to Merthyr Tydfil with Gibbon’s Holidays. Adrian Gibbon’s advised me that the first coach he operated was a B58 Supreme so hopefully this should bring back some happy memories. Let’s hope he continues with the restoration of this old lass and she emerges resplendent in Gibbon’s colours at some point in the not too distant future.

We have recently sold this 2007 Mercedes Benz Vario Sitcar Beluga 27 Seat Midicoach to Silver Spires Travel of Oxfordshire. This vehicle breaks away from Silver Spires usual vehicles as they operate mainly 16 seaters but a larger vehicle was required to help the business grow. The Beluga was collected from Express Travel of Batley yesterday and is presented to Gary Dickson of Silver Spires in the usual pristine condition that you’d expect from Express. I’ve spoken to Gary this morning and it’s already out earning its keep with a group to South Wales. Hopefully that’ll be the first of many groups it carries.

Today we handed over this wheelchair accessible Mercedes Benz Vario Plaxton Beaver 3 to start a new life on The Isle of Barra with MacNeil Coaches. Prior to sale our good friends at West Coast Trim re-trimmed the seats in a very warm red Sigma fabric and Elite Signs & Graphics are supplying the vinyl decals to be fitted on arrival on Barra. We also helped out by delivering the bus to Airdrie for it’s onward journey. Seen collecting the vehicle from Darren is Donald MacNeil from MacNeil’s Coaches prior to continuing to Barra via Oban and a four and a half hour ferry crossing by CalMac to Barra. Hopefully it’ll settle in well in the local community.

Today we saw two MAN 14.220 MCV Evolution Service Buses loaded on to two Low Loaders to begin their journey to their new home……………..in New Zealand. These will be the furthest sales we have had to date and probably ever, as the next furthest point is probably the moon! This means in less than 6 months of trading we have become a truly global organisation. Thanks to Wesley at Go Goodwins for allowing me to sell the buses on his behalf, to our friends at Manchester Breakdown Services for transporting the [...]
