It’s Good to Give a Bit Back
2020 has been a traumatic year for most people and it’s already looking like 2021 isn’t going to be much better. One issue that has become more apparent during these difficult times is homelessness. There are people who were in a strong position twelve months ago who now find themselves with nowhere to live through no fault of their own. Helping the Homeless has something that we have always tried to do, even if it’s giving them a voucher for a hot drink from McDonalds or Greggs but we have decided to go a step further and as long as funds permit we will be donating a double decker bus to a homeless charity every Christmas for conversion into a mobile shelter. This year we donated two, both of which were sourced from Abbey Travel of Erith, Kent. This wouldn’t have been possible without the continual support of our customers. We certainly couldn’t have done it without the help of Mike and Steve at Abbey Travel who ensured the buses were roadworthy and driveable. Also, Mike Lawrenson for bringing one of them back to Preston on his tow truck. And finally Redline Travel who stored the bus for us over the holidays and their drivers Danny and Will who drove the bus over to Blackpool from Preston. The buses have ended up in Birmingham and Blackpool, the first to Cert UK, and the second to Amazing Graze Soup Kitchen. Hopefully they will both be converted as quickly as possible and help get some vulnerable people off the streets and into warmth and safety. More importantly they will save lives!
