I was contacted recently by Jason Jones of Jone’s Coaches in Herefordshire who was in a predicament. He had a requirement for PSVAR compliant belted service bus but with a high maximum capacity rather than the more usual 42 or 45. The answer, an ex West Yorkshire BMC Condor. This is a vehicle that ticks all the boxes with a seating capacity of 57 with all age 3 point seat belts, full PSVAR compliance, and a tried and tested Cummins / Voith driveline. We were about to advertise this one for sale for Meredith’s Coaches in Malpas, Cheshire but she didn’t make the website. I recently had the pleasure of delivering this old lady to her new home in Devon. This veteran double decker has had much love during her life spending the majority of it with Chester’s Coaches in Walkden, Manchester where Harry and Chris ensured she was kept in pristine condition and modernised when required, hence the gull wing mirrors, and front face lift. Following a short spell with Yelloway she is off to a new home by the seaside in Brixham, Devon with Brixham College who have recently found a requirement for a double decker due to social distancing requirements in the coming months due to COVID 19. They couldn’t have chosen a better bus. We’ve hit the ground running this week with the sale of this Volvo D10M Citybus. In their day these were by far the best deckers available. Being built on Mark IV B10M Chassis and fitted with a ZF 5 Speed Fully Automatic gearbox they could hold their own with any coach in terms of top speed. With a capacity of 87 and 3 Point Belts they just printed money. Even though they still have plenty of life in them the onset of PSVAR compliance has made them less desirable however Jordan Ridley can still see their potential. That, and the fact that he has bought from Redline before meant it was an easy decision to add this beauty to his fleet. Due to a requirement for a PSVAR Compliant Coach for Rail Replacement work we have supplied this PSVAR Compliant Volvo B9R Plaxton Elite 53 Seater to M. Pearson Coaches of Chesterfield. The coach started life on the National Express network with Selwyn’s Travel of Runcorn, Cheshire. During it’s time at Selwyn’s it was up-seated to 53 seats. The coach is fitted with Full Leather Trim with 3 Point Seat Belts, Thermo King Air Conditioning, a Magic Floor Wheelchair Lift, and Hanover LED Destination Displays to Front, Side, and Rear. The coach was supplied by Weardale Motor Services and presented in their usual immaculate condition. Hopefully this coach will help Pearson’s on the road to compliance. Our latest sale sees this tri-axle Setra S416 GT-HD head off for a new life as far detached from it’s previous life as imaginable. Having spent it’s entire life carrying holiday makers all over Europe for Crusader Holidays she’s ramping it up a gear by carrying rock and pop stars. She’s off to be converted into an 8 berth sleep coach for carrying all sorts of showbiz types for Loadout Express from Glasgow. Ricky Morton from Loadout Express chose this vehicle following trouble free experiences with previous Setra, along with it’s pristine condition and relatively low mileage. Mott’s Travel of Aylesbury who own the Crusader brand supplied the coach and she’s seen here in Mott’s premises prior to heading to her new home north of the border. A recent sale has seen this Volvo B12M Jonckheere Mistral head to the Cambridgeshire Fens. It has been purchased by WMS Recruitment in Wisbech to transport workers around local farms to assist with fruit and vegetable picking. As they already operate the B12M Mistral combination this 51 seat executive coach was the ideal vehicle for them. The fact that it has a ZF Automatic Gearbox is an added bonus. The coach was supplied by Pat’s Coaches in Wrexham and was presented to their usual immaculate standard. Thanks to Keith, Mark, and the team at Pat’s for supplying the vehicle. Following our instruction to assist with the disposal of a number of vehicles for Dan’s Luxury Travel in Essex we have started to make inroads into the fleet. The first vehicles sold are a pair of Mercedes Benz Sprinter 0.516 CDi Unvi Vega GTs which are off to the Valleys. First Call Travel of Merthyr Tydfil have taken the pair of identical mini-coaches. These well spec’d luxury vehicles feature 18 Half Leather Reclining Seats, 3 Point Seat Belts, A Large Boot, and Air Conditioning. Thanks to Nick Brown at Dan’s for his assistance in the sale. Whilst UK Coach Sales are quite sporadic at the moment the export market is still quite buoyant. Our latest sale has seen this immaculate Volvo B10M Plaxton Excalibur from the JH Coaches fleet delivered to Immingham Docks prior to export to Zimbabwe. It’s new owner is Hilbright Science College in Mutare, Zimbabwe and it will arrive in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania in about 6 weeks time. This is one of the cleanest old Plaxtons I have seen in a long time and should give her new owners a few years good service. We have recently supplied possibly the cleanest 14 year old Setra in the country to Revel Minibus Service of Rugby, Warwickshire. The S415HD Top Class has been owned from new by Britannia Travel of Otley, West Yorkshire and owner driver Tony Broome has decided to retire from the industry leaving his pride and joy looking for a new home and it is a credit to him. Hugh Franklin of Revel Minibus was in the market for a front line vehicle and on seeing the Setra knew it was for him. We’d like to wish Hugh every success with his new vehicle, particularly in the current testing climate. Thanks to Tony at Britannia for ensuring the coach was in tip top condition. You may have been fooled that the world has stopped turning but here at Odyssey Coach Sales we are still busy selling buses and coaches, albeit at a slower pace than usual. Here’s a bit of positivity amongst all the doom and gloom. Following the recent purchase of a 22 seat Sprinter Shetland Experience Tours have returned for another vehicle. A requirement for a newly won contract saw them purchase this ADL Enviro 200 from Lochs Motor Transport on the Isle of Lewis. As well as being PSVAR compliant this immaculate service bus is fitted with 3 point seat belts and a ferry lift facility to assist it when travelling between islands.
